Development of mind..

I recently came across I Never Promised You a Rose Garden is a 1977 film based on the Joanne Greenberg novel of the same name.

I would be discussing my viewpoints before and after watching the film.

Discussion in Wikipedia:
I Never Promised You a Rose Garden is a 1977 film based on the Joanne Greenberg novel of the same name.

In the wake of the success of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's NestRoger Corman was able to get funding for a movie version of Rose Garden. Bibi Andersson played Dr. Fried, while Kathleen Quinlan played Deborah. For unknown reasons, all references to Judaism were removed, including the storyline of the vicious cruelty Deborah suffered from anti-Semitic peers, so that her childhood bout with urethral cancer becomes the sole reason for Deborah's "retreat from reality".

In a recent interview, Greenberg stated that the references to Judaism were removed because the producers were "terrified." Speaking with characteristic frankness, the author added that the characterizations of mental illness in the film "stank on ice."[1]

Deborah's name is changed from Blau (which means "blue" in German, and parallels the author's pseudonym "Green") to Blake. Another major theme of the book, Deborah's artistic talent which flourished in spite of her illness, was reduced to a scene in which she scribbles childishly on a drawing pad. The Kingdom Of Yr is portrayed on-screen, as are some of its gods, but never seen in its original ethereal beauty, only the wasteland that it became much later.

In a 2006 interview, Greenberg recalled that she was not consulted on any aspect of the film, and was contacted only by Bibi Andersson. She recalled Andersson telling her that the producers had said Greenberg could not be consulted as she was "hopelessly insane".[2]
The film's supporting cast included Diane VarsiSylvia Sidney and Signe Hasso. Total running time is 96 minutes.
The studio is listed as "Imorh" Productions, imorh (variously meaning "sleep", "death" or "insanity") being an Yri word from the novel.

Before: (Anticipation/Brainstorming)

Generally speaking everyone was an embryo some or the other time. Embryo from a zygote. Embryo has the potential for development in the whole person. If there is any insult to the cellular structure at earlier age inside the uterus, there is high chance of gross deformity in the development of humans. Earlier the damage greater the impact.... may be lethal too..

Can this same be applied to the metal development? Yes, I think so. human development is as physical as mental too. When a child develops under healthy and nice nurturing environment it has better chance of growing physically as well as mentally. and if the conditions are not supportive and/or hurting mental growth, mental health may be ill developed. Usually invisible effect is seen in the affect of the person. Reason may be well behind in the past.
(I have a rule: Everything has reason, I dont know whether everything happens for a reason! but everything has a reason. Today affects tomorrow.)

Anti-semitic peer burden and a cancer , that to of Urethra at young age is a combination of damaging agents.  Deborah's defenses were underdeveloped. She was in a developmental stage as an embryo. Damage was too much that she lost touch with the reality. Its something like an altered defense mechanism.

Conclusion: my conclusion is a question, to psychologists: Can we get rid of the damaging events in the past and start with a relatively clean slate?

C ya guys .. I would update after watching the movie.. 10/10 is scheduled date for movie in class. Lets see if I can wait till that. I need to read the novel if I can get one at MDA..
